the sample object was quite 'complex' for a beginners course, a few hints in advance to not overcomplicate the own sample :D would have been appreciated.. but in fact, an exciting and very good introduction to modelling in Maya. I can't wait to book another 3dmotive course! You're amazing!

So far, I'm just in the first video, but it's already been insanely informative. I'm very happy I got this. I was so intimidated when I first tried, but this has made it seem possible to learn.

Excellent overview, perfect pace for the first four of five sections with clarity of concepts.

For me, the UV unwrapping sections ended up as more of an intermediate level exercise-- it was still helpful as an introduction, but I only watched instead of actually performing each of the sections as the pace seemed to quicken considerably.

Still five stars without a doubt, as the author explains why each of the exercises are necessary.

This course is a relatively old course and demos how to use Maya 2012. Still, this course holds up pretty well with most of the essential basics. Not too much has changed, but I will admit that I'm learning how to use the after-2012-Maya tools that make some of the modelling / unwrapping process easier compared to the process shown in this course. The course goes over the basics of all the tools and the interface of Maya. The instructor even demonstrates how to use some of the tools even he admits he doesn't like to use, which is really nice. The course goes over the basic of model creating, UV editing and some texturing. There are files given with the course to do some hands on 3D modelling and follow along with the instructor. Even though this is a great course, I'm only giving it a 4.5/5 because I feel like the instructor goes too fast sometimes with the hands on work. I felt like I was kind of struggling to keep up with his pace as a complete beginner. Still a great course though! I definitely recommend it.

There is a lot of showing me the information to being with, but I am doing very little and therefore I am finding it very difficult to maintain all this information.

I felt that this was more intermediate and less beginner, there were some basics that were glossed over.

However did give me confidence to go ahead and try some stuff in the modelling area

Really easy to follow. But I feel a lot of adjustments were done off camera. Uving sucks we could have use Keyshot or some other utility for this process. For whet ever reason unwrapping I got a lot more items that did not make sense. but this covers a lot of principals of modeling to get a nobbie running in 3D. I still found this course valuable and easy to follow, hence, the five stars. JR

Seems a little hectic at the moment. Would like to dive straight in and open a project.
