About This Course

Want to learn how to use Maya after you already know 3ds max? Making the switch was never easier.

*This course has been updated to the latest version of Maya 2017

It can be hard feeling completely lost when you already know the fundamentals and the software is the only thing getting in your way. You may be pulling your hair out, because your speed and process have been thrown out the door. You may be knowing what you want to create but getting nowhere trying to accomplish it.

Most tutorials for learning Maya are fundamentals videos that are long and drawn out, covering topics that you already understand. You're just looking for the information on how to transfer the skills you already have from working in 3ds max. You may be spending large amounts of time scanning through tons of beginner videos only to find the videos overlook the advanced techniques you use. Sometimes the techniques you use aren't even available in Maya. This becomes irritating and wastes your time.

This video series is designed to get you up to speed inside of Maya and have you wondering why it ever seemed so hard to transfer between software in the first place. All of the main tools and techniques that are used in everyday video game art development (modeling, unwrapping, and baking) will be explained and cross referenced to what you would use inside of 3ds max. So if you're in need of getting up to speed inside of Maya for a new job position or are a student looking to improve your resume to become more attractive to employers this video series is perfect for you.

  • Overview of fundamental UI differences

  • Location of most used tools and techniques for modeling

  • Explaining high poly modeling workflow

Great course, I have a strong knowledge base of 3dsMax and I wanted to learn Maya for an upcoming project. While the course is rather short it managed to get me familiar enough with the software to start working. Not recommended for those new to 3d Art/Animation.

I’m Kurs wird überhaupt nicht von Max ausgegangen. Ist ein reiner Maya Intro Kurs. Schade.

as an expert user of 3ds max, i changed jobs and needed a quick ramp up, and was always finding myself saying "in max there was this tool... i wonder where it is in maya". So I bought this wonderful course that bridged the gap between what I knew and how they approach it in maya. This was a game changer for me, highly recommended!

The course is a good introduction to Maya, but the title is a little misleading.
I was expecting a greater comparison between both 3ds max and Maya. Maybe showing both interfaces...
Having said that, the course is good and shows useful things.

20 years using 3ds Max for myself, and it got straight to the point of what I needed to know. Certainly more than enough to get up and running, and cleared up some misconceptions about Maya for me along the way.

This is an intro to Maya tutorial NOT a 3DS Max conversion to Maya tutorial. At no point were any references to 3ds Max made in regard to functions and commands for experienced 3ds Max users. The modeling section didn't cover any major operations such as cut, bevel, connect, bridge or shell. My expectation was that there would be a transference of terminology between softwares, but there was none.

IT is a good overview of the software, but the title says "learning Maya after knowing 3dsMax, and in no lessons he talk about 3dsMax, just shows very fast attributes of Maya.
