About This Course

Master UVW Unwrapping for your game props as we guide you step-by-step through the most important tools in 3ds Max!

Using 3ds Max, we'll take an introductory look at UVW unwrapping, learn about hotkeys and setting up your UI to maximize your unwrapping efficiency, and then move straight on to unwrapping our Oil Tower prop. As we simplify the many tasks associated with unwrapping, we'll breakdown some of the most commonly used tools and have you unwrapping your assets in no time.

About the Instructor:

Don Ott has been working in the game industry as a 3d artist for over 8 years, and is the co-founder and owner of 3dmotive.com, which produces high-quality, game art and 3d related tutorials by industry pros! He is currently a Senior Artist at High Moon Studios in Carlsbad, CA, currently working on his 6th AAA title, slated for release in 2015. This course is very old (10 years), but there are some tricks you can still find and the instructor explains everything very well.

Super Erklärungen wie man das Unwrapping auch bei komplizierteren Gegenständen hinbekommt. Schön wäre gewesen, wenn auch noch erklärt worden wäre, wie man die Textur dann in Photoshop bearbeitet.

A real good tutorial for beginners, even up to the more advanced users. Only downside is that the teacher only explains basic stuff and has zero "more difficult" objects to unwrap e.g. in real life situations.

The tutorials limits itself to "square" stuff basically which is super beginners stuff and basically does not teach you anything that you would need in real life.

It would have been so much better then a "regular" tutorial when the teacher would add 1 up to 3 more lessons in which he would explain how to unwrap stuff that is a bit harder to unwrap i.e. more curves on it and -or connections in terms of a cylinder with another smaller cylinder attached to it, or some game props.

Other then that, awesome tutorial, would definitely advice anyone who wants to learn about unwrapping UV to buy this course.

Did I miss the part where you apply the textures to the model ? : / You do a good job explaining the process but there really needs to be some practice and an opportunity to ask questions about specific techniques within practice sessions.
