About This Course

You will learn how to select a composition from a large view, how to plan, sketch and paint outside. I've made it easy.

NEW BONUS LECTURE added August 2023

This is a must-do course for anyone who really wants to improve their painting techniques wherever you are painting.

WHY?

  1. Because you will learn how to extract a composition from a view.

  2. You will better understand a planning process that really works.

  3. You will no longer feel intimidated when planning a composition.

  4. You will improve your ability to focus and concentrate.

  5. See how to select your materials and equipment to keep it simple.

  6. Your confidence will soar when you have gone through this course.

Follow through all the video lectures and see how:

  • I gather information and solve problems on location.

  • Look at another subject as I paint it through to the finish. Then you can do the same.

  • Learn how to look at a subject in a simplified way.

This course is filmed on location and in the studio giving you an easy-to-follow method to put into practice. Remember you don't have to finish the painting in one go. Work as it suits you. Gather all the information and then you can paint in your studio if you prefer.

These studies will really help you understand a manageable way for working outdoors or 'en plein air' as we artists like to say.

Why choose one of my courses?

Because, as a self-taught artist I understand how a lot of people feel about their creative work, sometimes anxious, sometimes overwhelmed, and often that it's not 'good enough'. I will hold your hand as you overcome these fears as I offer a friendly, relaxed, and sensitive teaching style.

I also have years of experience teaching people of all levels both in person and via the Internet.

Do one of my courses and you will feel as if I am in the room with you every step of the way.

Enjoy your painting, love Nicola

Too much irrelevant talk. I was looking forward to the outdoor beach painting and got an architecture talk. I just went through the lot on 2x and couldn’t wait for the end.

This is the third course I've bought from Nicola and I love the way she explains things and takes the pressure off trying to get it "perfect".

However this course didn't leave me with the same confidence to go away and do it myself as some of her other courses. I liked the first video where she explained how to deconstruct a building and how to get the proportions right. I was hoping for more like that. Is that "perspective drawing"? Maybe that's a different course...

Nonetheless, still some great tips in here that left me in a better place than when I started, just a few gaps to fill before I feel like I can tackle the great outdoors myself!
