About This Course

No artistic talent is required for this course, just the ability to match colours & themes to make personalised cards.

UPDATED  June 2024

An extra lecture added June 2023 - Junk journals you next step.

ALSO

NEW bonus lecture added August 2023

Here are some brilliant ideas to help you see how you can up-cycle, rather than throw away, your cache of used wrapping, greeting cards, paper, stamps, envelopes, feathers, old books, sheet music, magazine cuttings and even some of your watercolor experiments and turn them into fabulous personalised greeting cards for family and friends.

Just for fun, this is a great little course to help you not only recycle paper and other pretty paper products but to encourage you to be creative, to help you occupy your hands and flex your brain by sourcing and arranging cuttings, shapes and colours.

You will be amazed at what you can up-cycle when you start making your own cards, to save money, feed your soul and smile as you see your beautiful creations ready to share.

The course takes you through a creative process of making your cards as you work in themes, colours and look at how to assemble your treasures. See how to use different cutting tools and fixings. Learn how to fold paper to make miniature envelopes and pockets. How to line an envelope with decorative paper and create interesting tags and use stamps for special messages.

Make yourself happy, you know you are worth it. Love Nicola

Why choose one of my courses?        Because, as a self-taught and selling artist I understand how a lot of people feel about their creative work, sometimes anxious, sometimes overwhelmed and often that it's not 'good enough'.    Well I will hold your hand as you overcome these fears as I offer a friendly, relaxed and sensitive teaching style.      Do one of...

Not so far. There was an item to download which could have been presented in the tutorial. The first video I'm seeing has introduced a painted card that was not part of the instruction. The last video I watched, I had already seen in previewing the course.

I really enjoyed all the sample cards, starting off with the collection of items and working with the placement to make it look attractive. I learned more about color coordination and selecting appropriate items. It makes me want to start growing my collection of things that might fit into a card design. I was a bit confused when the screen went to a list of jokes as I don't remember an introduction or direction. I stayed on the page for quite a while, waiting for it to change and then realized that I needed to click the arrow at the side of the page to move on.

All in all, it was an interesting, entertaining and educational class. I'm glad I selected it from Udemy's course list.

This is a fun course and Nicola gives fantastic examples of cards that you can make. She makes it fun and very easy to understand. Giving new life to things that you have collected is a win on many levels. Easy to go through this course as it is just long enough. I have a couple of card needs coming up very soon and will give this a try.
