What will be covered in this class?
Mixing Hip Hop can be complicated, challenging and rewarding. In these videos we'll walk you through a Hip Hop mix from beginning to end. Some mixing techniques can span across different genres and some are very specific to the style of music you’re mixing. In this class we'll show you techniques specifically tailored to mixing Hip Hop.

We'll show you how to set up your mix so you can work faster and more efficiently. We'll also show you the benefits of mixing through a compressor instead of adding a compressor to the finished mix. We’ll go through EQ and compression on every instrument in the mix starting with the mighty Kick and the 808 and ending with the supporting synths. We'll show you how to EQ, compress and use FX to get male and female vocals sitting perfectly on top of the track. We’ll use automation to add excitement to certain parts of the track and make effects pop out. As a bonus we'll also show you how to mix your vocals into a pre mixed beat and add production value with custom FX. After taking this class you’ll have an arsenal of tips and tricks to take your mixes to the next level!

This is done on a Mac, but I use a PC. Using Ableton Live 11. So this confuses me a bit.

Overall I learned a lot. Played with his practices on a verse on a song I'm currently mixing. Already sounds way better. I'll be going through my notes to finish the rest. Deducted 1/2 a star because one issue I always have is figuring out how to fit the vocals in the pocket of the beat (as far as leveling, where should it sit?). Have yet to find an explanation for this on ANY video I've watched. They just know, but don't explain. Otherwise, great class. For the people complaining they don't have the same plugins, I personally know that 1 plugin isn't usually the end all, be all. I googled substitutes throughout the video & found great alternatives that I may either already have, or can get for free or cheap. Do a little research if you take this seriously. Overall, definitely worth the money I paid. Thanks for making this course.

Class is good so far and I'm able to follow. I would like to know more of the thinking behind the decisions to adjust levels as we go. Is a certain part too loud, not loud enough... those kinds of things

It was nice to refresh and re-learn mixing so I can simplify my process to making stronger mixes. I hope that I can take this knowledge and improve things that were my weakest points.

A great course that took me through a lot of important stuff. I do however wish these courses would put a little bit more emphasis on what a plugin does so that we can take the concept and use it on a different plugin. This course does that to some degree, but I would have wished for just a little bit more to give it a 5 star. But definitely happy I bought it!

Great class, knew some concepts already going in but it solidified some perspectives. As well as gave me some new ways/tools to approach mixing.
