Well, at first all good, until section 4, I am following tightly what the teacher was doing and trying to code in same time.
However, the teacher made some mistakes especially when trying to refactor his code, so I need to jump here and there to change my code again and gain.

If I would rate for the first 7 chapters it would be 4-5 stars. Because he has a very good style. He first coded like an amateur and started improving the code step by step. Very useful for especially beginners to learn about game architecture and to see how to improve although the content is slightly old.

But in 8th chapter, he suddenly starts the first video with many newly added features. And worst things are he just went thru them (not do the coding during the video) and also he doesnt show every feature he implemented. So the 8th chapter is useless and incomplete. I was totally lost. The 8th chapter is like trying to learn by reading someone else's project not like training videos. It is so upsetting to not being able to see what he did to improve the game to such level.

I just gave some starts because of his effort in previous chapters.

I have taken numerous courses on Udemy in the last few months related to Unity development, such as those by GameDev.tv. Unfortunately, this course is of unbelievably poor quality. The instructor spends a significant amount of time on filler words such as "um", and on repeating himself multiple times. The course seems to have had no planning involved, as the instructor has trouble figuring out bugs. In addition, the target audience is unclear: if this is a beginner course, students ought to avoid this course due to its poor coding style and incoherent delivery. If it's meant for intermediate programmers, the course fails again due to simplistic implementations, with many items being made public instead of using [SerializeField] when something needs to be referred to in the inspector. Overall, I am extremely disappointed, and fail to understand how people could possibly have rated this course as high as its current rating in November 2022.

Fantastic starter course if you have some experience programming (not necessarily in game dev/Unity). This will not help you with graphics/animations or the like, but it will help you with the fundamentals and learning Unity. Course steps still work in 2022, though some objects are legacy now.

The first few sections seemed to have some level of organization and preparedness.

Unfortunately as it goes on it seems the instructor didn't plan past the intro lessons and was on the fly coding and fixing mistakes throughout the lessons. While in theory this is pretty realistic to what coding "actually is", it makes for a very chaotic and hard to follow course for the viewer.

While game development itself is a new concept to me, having a background in software engineering helped me anticipate what the instructor was "trying" to do. This allowed me to have some takeaways from the course.

That being said for someone who is completely new to programming this course is a nightmare and may end up leaving you more mixed up, confused, and frustrated than before you started learning.

I would recommend looking elsewhere for lessons as this one is simply rushed and isn't given the thought and consideration it needed to be constructive from start to finish.

It's good that the course tells about the more narrow type of games instead of the more broad type of courses. Only downside is that the teacher sometimes learn new things during the lessons, so he decides to rewrite and redo a lot of staff, but still it shows various approaches to the same problem.

It's a good course, however the last bits left a bit to be desired.

Through the bulk of the course things were explained, and broken down step by step giving a full run down on how things interacted and worked together. The instructor gave a candid look into the process complete with errors and how to manage and correct them which is perfect for the learning experience.

The last section in the course however, the instructor basically just offered the option for the student to download the code and proceeded to give a quick overview on the changes made.

Granted, I get why it was done, as going through the course the tools are provided to assist the student on handling such an undertaking. The problem that I found was that the code had changed so drastically from the point where they left off, to the new incarnation that they hand off to the student, that it is kind of overwhelming. It's something to tackle, and can be done, but overall it just kind of felt lazy viewing it from a student's angle. Granted the last section was an added part much later than the initial course, so it is possible they were looking to add value to an old course without dedicating too much time into it, but my point still stands.

Overall, I like this instructors style, and if they offer additional courses I was interested in, I would not hesitate to enroll.

This was a great update to the things I learned during his other course on the life sim and far expanded on what we learned from that. I highly recommend it.
