About This Course

Learn how to Record, Edit, Mix and Master your Tracks into a Professional Music Production

Your Essential Guide to Music Production
This course is all about teaching you the Essentials of Music Production. With all the music software choices out there, its very easy to get a bit overwhelmed with what to choose and how to use it. Well, the good news is that all the Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) out there on the market do the same thing. They allow you to record your musical ideas in, and then edit and mix them to get your songs sounding great!

We want to help minimize this learning curve and show you how to get your musical ideas into your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), and then how to use the tools in the software to edit, mix and master your music

You will gain from 30 Years of Experience

The two instructors of this course (Gary Hiebner and Mikael Baggström) will share from the experience and knowledge they gained from all their years composing and producing music, which in total is well over 30 years. And together they have created this Essentials Guide on how you can improve your Music Productions.

You will learn the following:

  • Recording and Editing your Audio

  • Recording and Editing your MIDI

  • How to use effects to improve your music productions

  • Learning to mix your songs like a Pro!

  • How to master and finalize your songs so that they compare to other commercial releases

What You'll Get From This Course:

  • Step-by step instructions on how to get started with your DAW, and how to get your audio and MIDI ideas into the computer

  • Easy to follow instructions that can be carried across to whatever DAW you are working in

  • Tips & Tricks from an experience composer and sound designer

  • Suitable for beginners and pros alike

Course Goals:

At the end of this course you’ll be able to find your way around your DAW, and know how to record to your audio and MIDI tracks. Plus, you'll know how to add and edit effects to help improve your mix and mastering of your songs. We have also added in a bonus section on how to even build up your own DAW template so that you can get into your music productions even faster!

  • You will learn the fundamentals of music production

The overall course was really informative and gave some great insights into the different technical details and workflows of music production. I gave it 4 stars since it was lacking some basic explanations here and there, and I felt that is left out some concepts at certain parts that would have helped me in the understanding process. All in all, that's just a minor critique though.

Starting from nothing, I got a ton out of this course and it really jumpstarted my ability to find other resources to build upon. Its not as in depth as to make you know all the ins and outs, but it gives you enough to start to try new things and play with effects that again, you had no idea existed when you started.

Though sometimes I didn't feel that technical elements of compression/mastering/etc. were explained particularly well, this course was a good overview of many of the important elements of music production, and was definitely full of a lot of good tips and general information, even if it didn't go in depth very frequently. It also helped me identify what I need to work on further. Thanks, Gary and Mike!

Great course for someone like me that was seeking a well-rounded overview of how to record on a DAW. I have experimented with recording for many years but never felt as though I had a good grasp on many of the fundamentals. Through this class, I now feel much more educated in how to set up my DAW for ease of use and how to make the most of my recordings through implementation of various techniques. Thanks for the class!

If you're just starting your production journey, then this course will definately save you a lot of time and tears.
If you've already managed to teach yourself to complete a few songs, e.g. learning via Google and Youtube, you will have learned many of the things covered here, and some of them the hard way. A good example for myself was not recording too hot or too cold.
And even if you've made it that far, there will be gaps in your workflow and knowledge of applicable techniques. For me, those included e.g. dynamics in MIDI arrangements, workflow tips, multiband compression, stereo enhancing and many more.
Overall, highly recommended.
best regards, Brynjar

Even with years of self-taught music production experience, I learned a lot from this course about every aspect of music production. I look forward to taking more courses from these instructors in the future; they're both concise and thorough with their explanations, and the approachable teaching methods they have make this course very easy to learn from. An excellent starting point for a beginning producer or a wealth of undiscovered knowledge for the experienced - I recommend this course to anyone that doesn't already have a firmly established digital music career as a way to take your productions to a professional level.

Great course. Even though I have been involved in recording professionally since 1976 (composing and producing jingles and music for commercials) I am learning about things I thought I knew quite well.
