great details, overview and flow of information
It was very high level, which is how it was described, but I was expecting a little more depth. There was a lot of repetition. I would describe this as a presentation a vendor would present to a prospective client to create a need for their product, and yes, they do mention their product in the presentation, but it is not overwhelming.
Course went into general CMDB characteristics but lacked a section that brought it all together. Also referenced ITIL but didn't go into the differences and the "why" of the differences.
It was a good primer into considerations of starting and managing a CMDB.

ServiceNow has its own augmentation of the CMDB and ITIL practices called CSDM. If you are talking to augmenting the CMDB in a ServiceNow context, it is much better to do it from a CSDM framework. Further, this was purely a strategic class with nothing tangible to ServiceNow itself in that strategy. There was no description of the underlying SQL database used, that hierarchical framework was used that adds a number of challenges. That many of the tables are views and use inheritance. Much less the more commonly used table cmdb_ci => cmdb_ci_hardware, etc. Finally the CSDM which ServiceNow has wrapped around ITIL and CMDB was not even mentioned. Instead an entirely different framework was presented.
This is highly an eye-opening lecture about CMDB key concepts.
