About This Course

Aviation Weather Observations

We are excited to introduce an in-depth,  8-hour+ course on Aviation Weather Observing taught by an experienced aviation meteorologist and Certified Consulting Meteorologist.

We didn't cut corners in the development of this course- you'll learn here! This course is specifically aimed at those who want a deeper understanding of how weather fits into the aviation industry and exactly how to observe the current weather conditions and encode them into meteorological aerodrome reports (METARs).

Following successful completion of this class, each student may move forward with pursing a career with the FAA (or contractor) observing weather at commercial airports - with average [USA] pay ranging from $12/hr to over $40/hr.  Of course, you'll have to meet their requirements and pass their test - we have no control over that, and have no affiliation with them. However, we recently learned that one of our US students successfully landed a job in weather observing after taking our course.

This course has been taken by students on every continent and has a well-established high rating. It is simply one of the best courses that you can take to further your skillset in meteorology, and is applicable around the globe (although every nation has its own set of encoding rules). Or, you can simply just take to course to better understand the weather in your backyard. We look forward to having you!

  • Ability to decode and understand airport weather observations

  • Ability to encode airport weather observations

  • Ability to take accurate weather observations

This course helped me to get an 86 on my weather test, also helped me to understand why things are done the way they are done.

This course teaches the subject a hundred times better than the training given by my organisation. It reaches every nook and corner of the subject. I have been on the job for nearly five years and I wish I had discovered this course sooner.

This is the best weather class I have had as a licensed aircraft dispatcher. The class is structured very well and the instructor breaks each term down with grace.

I like how this course brakes down each section of the METAR and SPECI into its own section. I like how the quizzes are similar to what we were taught and we can always go back to the book, seek help, and look at the AWC for real-time METAR/TAF/PIREPS/ETC. Looking at real-world examples is helpful to further understand each concept and look at the weather.
