About This Course

Make Local & Online Multiplayer Games. Improve Your Coding Programming Skills. Made In Collaboration With Epic Games.

This course is created using Unreal Engine 4. It still works with Unreal Engine 5 and has a ton of great C++ coding knowledge that you can use in any version of the Unreal Engine.

Created in collaboration with Epic Games
, the course will show you how to create Epic multiplayer experiences using the world class Unreal Engine. This course hits the ground running, instantly getting you playing your own multiplayer games with other students.

As the engine underpinning many AAA games (including Fortnite), Unreal is full of tools for creating multiplayer games extremely quickly. However, knowing where to start with Unreal Engine can be intimidating

With a massive feature set and little documentation, you get stuck understanding where to begin. This course makes understanding Unreal super easy. Not only do we show you how to use the engine, but we teach you the fundamental concepts. These skills allow you to pick up new features for yourself.

This course is aimed at beginner to intermediate Unreal users with some knowledge of C++. Not too confident? Don't worry, the course will take you through everything step by step and give you plenty of practice to build up that confidence with coding.

We don't assume any knowledge about networking or multiplayer games. We will teach you about everything you need to know about networks from the basics of latency in networks to the advanced topics of state synchronisation.

This course will not teach you to make a massively multiplayer game. But it will teach you the fundamentals you need to understand how an MMO could be built.

Note: access to this course comes with an optional, free community site where you can share games and 3D models, as well as connect with other students.

Become a multiplayer master now, you won't be disappointed!

  • Make your own local and online multiplayer games using Unreal Engine and C++ and Blueprints

  • Learn fundamental multiplayer theory and concepts you can apply in your own games

  • Use the Steam API to play your game against your friends online

Hi, I'm Ben. I have a degree in computing from Imperial College London, and a physics diploma from the Open University.  I started working for myself at the age of 15, and never looked back. I explored careers as varied as being a commercial pilot, stunt-man, rock climbing instructor, and more. None of these provided a continued challenge, and stable...

The methods and theory are amazing, the implementation in coding is sometimes hard to follow. Incompatibilities with U4.27 made it hard for me to come to same result for Section 4.

Excellent course to get started in multiplayer, if your familiar with multiplayer basics then section 4 covers a lot of advance replication subjects.

I am a game designer and I am learning Unreal for many years. I found many c++ tutorials but they all designed for programmers, learning process is frustrating for me. But this course saved me. This course and "Unreal 5.0 C++ Developer: Learn C++ and Make Video Games" are the best c++ course I have ever found. They make me understand how to use C++ in Unreal and feels confident! A million thanks to Sam and GameDev.tv

The instructions are not focused in the first parts, always leading me to this error and that error, a series of copy and paste works that have to be viewed in a small frame that is difficult to see. Stupid function names, too much talk but no illustrations, not even a cursor. The videos are too long and unnecessarily long, then they are left to the next video to complete. Learning a lot of useless, basic things even though it's considered intermediate level, you probably have to have an intermediate level to learn it. I no longer want to open the project to work on it anymore. Maybe it was only suitable in the past, at this time you should not buy it

This course is really well done, but I did encounter some problems while following it in UE5.1

I followed the Cubic interpolation and it was working, but then broke after the refactor and the mesh offset was added. I compared code 1:1 and mine is the same, so I downloaded the repo to test in 5.1, but it doesn't build. After getting it to build, the editor crashes every time trying to open the project.

Great course as most their courses are. One suggestion I would make is to make a slide/diagram of the dynamics and flow of events of the actor transform replication/simulation. A lot of times I had to draw out my own diagram to figure out why we are doing what we are on the OnRep and tick functions. They were explained sufficiently but it would help to visualize it.

A wonderful course.
Helped me understand a lot about multiplayer, OOS NULL and OOS Steam. Would really like to see more videos on dedicated server hosting.
For those who feel that the course is outdated - have no fear, the video contains inserts for new versions of the engine, and the course community is so large that even if you can not find a solution to your problem - ask a question and you will surely get an answer.
Excellent course, thanks Ben)
