About This Course

What you need & skills you need to start your video/photo business from gear, website, sales, negotiation, &networking

Too many courses focus on the technical side of video and photography. It is important, but just one aspect of running a video and photography company. I've learned the hard way that taking a great video or a great photo doesn’t mean automatic success. You have to develop skills that often aren’t taught in video and photography classes things like:

Getting assembling gear kits – Camera, lenses, and accessories – Introduce some camera’s and gear that you can use to assemble your first kit

Getting a logo – A logo is important for your brand and is one of the pillars for your marketing on-line and offline

Getting a website - If you're serious about showcasing your work and services you are going to need a website to showcase your presence on-line. This lecture will introduce you to the technology I use, where I host, and how I manage the website.

Developing a portfolio - When you are starting out you are going to invest time producing great videos and photo's to showcase to future clients. How do you get started and how do you go about it

Investing in yourself – video and photo skills - Resources and tip to develop your video skills and education to a professional level

Social media – Facebook, Pininterest, Youtube

Getting your first sales

Networking

Pricing

Negotiation

Game day – preparation & shotlist

Waste of time. All this information and even more, can be found for free on the internet. I was thinking on getting ideas to start and develop a real business in photography and video. But the instructor sound like it's just starting. Even the image it's not that good. You see the green casts in his skin. Not satisfied.

Great course! Section 2 and 3 were the most valuable for me as i already have the gear and have been filming for a few years.
The information provided is based on his personal experiences which i liked very much. Too many courses are just copy paste of text books. Here you get years of experience that amount to a course.
If you're starting from 0 i'd suggest getting the course and combining it with gear reviews on Youtube before you buy anything.
Just one note about the audio in the course. I found it better to watch at x1.25 speed as he takes the time to properly articulate and it can be a bit slow sometimes.

The course is great for those who want to learn about setting up a photography/video business . It gives an overall perspective, especially focusing on video.

This is NOT a course for someone who already is in the business or is seeking technical details on how to edit a video in Apple Mac or take a quality photo in low light.

However, instead if focuses on the other skills needed to run the business. It starts at the beginning covering logos, websites, and social media. The gear/software needed and why is covered. It discusses how to get business with examples and then completes the course with info on invoicing and "game" day shooting. It discusses the various resources that are available out there so the student can deep dive into any of those areas. The instructor provides great real-world tips and examples.

In conclusion, this is great for the newbie to learn about the business and get them going. It will also help them decide the next steps they will take.
