The are several courses available on creating Udemy courses. Dr. Cates course differs in the emphasis of instructional design. It's nice to know which microphones to use or how to set up the lights. What more significant is to know how to plan a course and build a course, which Dr. Cates does exquisitely.
Dr. Cates was very informative on how to get a course published and how to work on the Udemy platform. However, this is not a course on instructional design nor idea generation. I believe that the students who would benefit the most from this course are the ones who already know what they want to teach and have a basic understanding of how to outline and deliver it. Don't be mistaken; this is the BEST course on making money on Udemy!!!

I teach online for several universities, and wanted to get started on preparing courses on Udemy. I wanted to see a format that I could pattern my courses after. I was very pleased to see that many of the ideas I had for course design were already thoroughly laid out by Dr. Cates in her course. Using her tip, I've applied to become a Udemy affiliate. As soon as I receive approval, I intend to recommend this course in the one I'm preparing - "How to Teach Online 24/7/365." I did not want to "reinvent the wheel" with regard to creating a course on Udemy, and so this course will be the one I recommend.
"Online Course Profits" provides a nice overview of using Udemy for marketing your own course online. I particularly liked the lecture, "Quick Start Profits," for creating momentum/interest just before launching a course.
