There was a lot of basic information. The mechanics of writing are available in many style books, so I did not need them here. Sometimes the concepts were a bit vague. For instance, the idea of transparent writing is a good one, but the course was vague as to how to achieve it. I find it hard to pin down the vagueness due to the vagaries of the course. Several times he advises the purchase of editing software.
