Content Overview

This course is structured to serve as reference material, so you can go through the whole course in around one week, but, as your freelance career progresses, you will probably want to go back for refreshers, so to see how various steps can apply to your new situation.

Most of this course will be taught via videos, with some written notes and explanations for those wishing to go further in depth in their career as a freelance translator.

By the end of this course, you will be able to use your knowledge of languages to earn your own money online. You will know what is important in working for yourself, how to make yourself employable to new clients, and how to retain them once they have chosen you as a translator.

The world is becoming increasingly global, while jobs are less and less secure, and the Internet is, by now, near universal. Combine all these factors, and you have a perfect storm of opportunity for people who speak more than one language.

You've learned your language, and this course concentrates on what to do next, so you can use your abilities to choose jobs and clients that interest you. In other words, you can become a freelance translator.

The course clarified my knowledge, particularly on marketing &
marketing strategies. My father ws a teacher, an apple orchardist and an insurance agent with his own agency. So I have a good role model and my experience has taught me vauable lessons
that the course induces me to reflect on. In case you're wondering, I took 2 years of Sp. in HS, used it throughout the years talking with farm laborers before taking a refresher course at the YWCA as preparaton for a international Baha'i which led conference in Quito which led me to pioneer to Colombia for 8 1/2
years teaching English to feed the body and teaching the Baha'i
Faith to feed the soul, during which time I earned both a certificate in TEFL/TESOL and an M.S in TESOL in addition to experience. Back in the States, I spent 2 years as an ESL teacher
to farm workers, 5 years as a bilingual field interviewer for a monthly survey for the Census Bureau, one year sighttranslating
he interview instrument on the laptop for my Sp. interviews, 2 years as a contract medical intrpreter (state certified) and a year volunteering for a public radio station in Sp. So my opinion is well informed - not just out of the blue.I told you about my background to illustrate the value of my opinion.

Finding it getting more and more useful as I immerse into it... I would somehow hope that the request of the rating would come later at the end of the course rather than in the middle. And however, there a few couple of videos which always seems to be lagging or stuck at times.
