About This Course

Become a Blockchain Developer by creating your own ICO-Cryptocurrency with Ethereum & Solidity - Tutorial 2019

What is an ICO?

An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is a fundraising mechanism in which new projects sell their underlying crypto tokens in exchange for bitcoin or ether. It's similar to an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in which investors purchase shares of a company. But an ICO is much, much easier to create and basically everyone is able to start an ICO.

In 2018 ICOs earned in total over 20.000.000.000$. Therefore an ICO is at that moment the most powerful kickstart for your business or App-idea in order to raise money from investors!

What do we cover in this course?

In short: we will cover everything  you need to know in order to start with your own ICO-project. The course is structured in 3 major lectures:

1. Ethereum, Blockchain and Smart Contracts:
In this lecture we will cover all the basic stuff you need in order to start writing your first Smart-Contract. We will learn for example:

  • What is Ethereum?

  • What is a Blockchain?

  • Creating the ERC20 Token from scratch

  • Creating the ICO-SmartContract

  • Deploying SmartContracts to the Rinkeby Testnetwork

2. Creating the ICO-Webpage with ReactJS

We will set up the ICO LandingPage for your ICO project. This lecture contains:

  • What is ReactJS

  • Download & Installation of ReactJS

  • Creating basic Html, CSS & JavaScript Code for the Webpage

3. Combing the ICO-Webpage with the ICO SmartContract

We will cover here for example:

  • What is Web3?

  • How to compile Solidity code into JSON

  • Setting up Infura provider

  • Deployment of Smart-Contracts with Truffle-HD-Wallet-Provider

  • Create and design a fully-compliant ERC20 Token on the Ethereum Platform

  • Smart Contracts in practice

  • Understand the basic technology behind the blockchain and decentralized applications

This course is wonderful and provides proper knowledge creating an ICO project from scratch. However, as this made in 2019 I faced some issues.

Most important things note for newbies like are:

1. This course is still worth in 2022(Feb) as this is one of those very few block chain courses which explains block chain project architecture(Smart Contracts in Remix, Front End with React, Deployment using Remix & Infura as well).

2. This course does not use Truffle/Hard Hat which is a two sided sword. As framework is not used newbie would get great learning experience in understanding the in and out of the project directories. But frameworks are practically used for development as they save a lot of time and effort. Anyways, personally I must say before using framework people should build projects from scratch.

3. As the course is not updated, following the course becomes difficult and most of the time it's due dependency versions. I had a hard time dealing with Solidity version, compiler issues and npm errors. But as I made till end I can say a little extra effort like changing pragma line, npm commands, updating package.json file should work almost for all errors. THIS IS GOING TO BE PAINFUL for people not having node/react/npm knowledge.

4. Instructor has covered optimum time for front-end. It is a well balanced effort. As the course pre conditions is to have a knowledge of html, css & Js it was best to provide files for copy pasting. Else, writing css would have taken much time and effort. These things are actually self understandable but instructor put in optimum effort to write the important aspects of front end & web3.

Thick, thick accent. I bought two courses on udemy for the first time ever. Both of them had me straining. The subtitles have frequent mistakes, too.

Lost me on smart contracts. Why do we need to make them. What do they do. What should they contain besides the name of the coin. What does it mean for someone to interact with and change a smart contract
