Illustrator can be really scary to use when you first start out.

Do I hear you say "... but I can't draw" or "I hate the Pen tool"?

No problem! The great thing about this class is that it doesn't require any drawing or really any Pen tool skills - if you can use a keyboard and a mouse you can complete this course.

… this course is proof positive that Illustrator is so much more than its (dreaded) Pen tool – so we'll use the pen tool only when we have to (which is practically never) and you'll see just how much you can achieve without it.

Do I hear you say "... but I can't afford the latest Illustrator version"?

Again, I understand. I teach thousands of students who can't afford the monthly Creative Cloud payment. If you're using practically any version of Illustrator you should be able to complete this class.

That said there is one tool that isn't available in older versions of Illustrator (it's called the Touch Type tool), but it's only used for a few minutes in one class! So you won't be missing out on much at all if your Illustrator version is an older one.

Will I just learn to make text effects?

Well Yes, and No!

Yes, you'll learn to make a lot of text effects but each effect is different and each has been chosen for a reason. I have packed a whole range of effects into this class to help you learn a wealth of Illustrator tools and techniques. Better still, most of the effects you will apply to type can, just as easily, be applied to any object in Illustrator so you'll be building your general Illustrator skills as you go.

In short, you'll learn techniques and tips for working everyday in Illustrator.

How will I learn?

This course is made up 100% of video content. You'll watch my screen as I show you how each text effect is made. I'll explain what I am doing and why so you can learn as you watch.

If I have used an image or a font and if that image or font is important to the final result, I'll give you a download link so you can get that font or image to use yourself.
