Really good overview of the basic requirements of the academic world regarding the structure of essays and such. This course covers the details of grammar (passive voice, modal verbs) as well as the presentation of the arguments (kinds of evidence, evaluation, quoting) and other specifics. It is a really complete course with some great examples on the arguments section, with each part of the paragraph split and organized in order to show us their function.
The only thing lacking are more exercises here on the platform. There are some quizzes but they touch only the concepts, not giving us actual paragraphs to analyse and apply the concepts.
Overall, the course is an apt introduction to writing in an academic manner.

The course has provided a great tutoring in academic writing. As a freelance writer I am asked for different kinds of papers, most of them essays. The teacher explains the topics in a very easy and understandable way.

In this course Ms. Khukalenko provides a comprehensive understanding of Western/Anglo academic writing and how it contrasts with what is found in other cultures (Russian, Continental, etc.). I have long known that a true understanding in this regard is crucial in moving competently and successfully between the two academic cultures. The best part of the course is that many concrete examples are provided and then carefully examined. I definitely left the course with a more superior understanding of the topic.

The outcome of the course have given me a basis of understanding how to write a decent essay as per course outcome. I love the structured table template, it is so helpful to see exactly the structure of organising paragraphs. I am feeling confident about understanding the essay question and extracting key words to clearly guide my research. I feel the organised structure will lead to increasing my confidence with grammar, terms and critical thinking and curb my procrastination. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise in this subject! I enjoyed the lectures they were all very engaging and motivational giving me hope in learning to write my future essay's. It would be great to learn more about transitions in essay writing this is a struggle for me at times, so I find my writing does not always flow from one paragraph to the next.
